“dovevo rispondere ad un tema che mi era stato proposto ed il tempo a disposizione era poco. Utilizzai quindi delle fasce, che precedentemente avevo tessute per un altro progetto non andato a buon fine e che avevo abbandonato. Le annodai in modo casuale con una furia che mai avevo conosciuto anche per la frustrazione accumulata, sbattendo più volte il lavoro sul tavolo. In ultimo mi arresi, non avevo raggiunto niente. Successivamente riprendendo quel groviglio nero incomprensibile lo voltai diverse volte finché non riconobbi chiaramente in esso una figura arcaica in cammino verso est che porta una stella a cinque punte. Non riconobbi quel lavoro come mio, lo avevo realizzato come se fossi bendata e come se qualcuno avesse guidato le mie mani.
I nodi corrispondevano esattamente a degli snodi, quelli delle giunture nelle ginocchia, nei gomiti, nelle caviglie per consentire la mobilità alla figura, oltre il principale, relativo alla testa e all’addome, e probabilmente un ultimo, per la coda.
Nell’osservarlo ricorda la particolare postura della Gorgone rappresentata al centro del frontone del tempio di Corfù del IV sec. A.C. dedicato ad Artemide, figura apotropaica”.

“I had to respond to a theme that had been proposed to me and the time available was little. I then used bands, which I previously had woven for another project that was not successful and that I had abandoned. I tied them randomly with a fury that I had never known even for the accumulated frustration, slamming the work on the table several times. Finally I gave up, I had not achieved anything. Subsequently, taking up that incomprehensible black tangle, I turned it several times until I clearly recognized an archaic figure on its way eastward carrying a five-pointed star. I did not recognize that work as mine, I had realized it as if I were blindfolded and as if someone had guided my hands.
The nodes corresponded exactly to the joints, those of the junctions in the knees, elbows, ankles to allow mobility to the figure, beyond the main, relative to the head and the abdomen, and probably a last, for the tail.
In observing it, it recalls the particular posture of the Gorgon represented at the center of the pediment of the temple of Corfu of the IV century. B.C. dedicated to Artemis, apotropaic figure”.
